We believe in a well-defined routine throughout the year.
The skin, the largest organ of the human body, undergoes slight changes depending on the season in order to adapt to new temperatures.
This is because temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors have a direct impact on your skin's hydration, elasticity, and natural barrier.
As a general rule, skin needs more nourishment in winter.
When exposed to high contrasts (wind and cold outdoors / and heating indoors), the skin ends up drying out and, consequently, suffering from flaking, tightness, and a lack of luminosity. This applies not only to facial skin but also to more exposed areas like hands and lips.
We also take showers and baths with very hot water. It's what our body craves, but lukewarm water would be much healthier for the skin, because hot water only harms it. Furthermore, heat dilates the pores, allowing countless toxins such as chlorine or powerful bactericides to penetrate, which eliminate the tiny organisms that live on our skin and protect it (the so-called microbiome).
That's why I always, always recommend putting a good filter in your shower. I've been using the Alkanatur shower filter for years.
