When and how do I clean my skin correctly?

In the morning: even if you slept at home without makeup, the skin has been in a detoxification process all night. The residues from that process remain on the surface and must be removed so that the skin can breathe well during the day and absorb the active ingredients of your routine.

At night: essential. It is the time to remove pollution, makeup, sunscreen, and the excess sebum accumulated during the day. Sleeping without cleansing is one of the habits that ages the skin the most.

In both cases, the technique matters: lukewarm water, never hot, which dilates the vessels and damages the barrier, gentle circular motions, and a thorough rinse. If you use a balm or oil at night and your skin is very congested, double cleansing is your best ally.

Double cleansing: what it is and what it's for

Double cleansing is the favorite technique of Asian cosmetics, and anyone who tries it never looks back. It consists of two consecutive steps: first, an oil-based cleanser or balm that dissolves makeup, sunscreen, and sebum; then, a water-based cleanser, gel, or milk that removes the residue from the first step and cleanses deeply.

The result is truly clean skin, with no residue, prepared to absorb as much as possible of everything that follows in the routine. It is especially recommended if you wear sunscreen daily—which you should—or if you wear makeup. A single cleanser is rarely enough to remove both completely.
